DAY 1: PICKUP TO KIGALI – TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

Your guide/driver will pick you up and begin the scenic journey to Nyungwe Forest. Along the way, stop at the Ethnographic Museum in Butare, a key cultural site where you can explore Rwanda’s rich heritage. You’ll also have the chance to purchase local crafts and souvenirs.

Time permitting, you can visit Kamegeli Rock and the King’s Palace in Nyanza for a glimpse into Rwanda’s royal history. Enjoy lunch in Huye, then continue through the rolling hills and lush landscapes that give Rwanda its nickname, the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

Upon arrival at Nyungwe, head out for an exciting canopy walk in the afternoon. Suspended high above the forest floor, the walkway offers breathtaking views and a unique perspective of the forest’s stunning scenery

DAY : Chimpanze  Trekking  – Transfer back to Kigali.

Start your day early with breakfast as you prepare for an exciting morning of chimpanzee trekking. The trek begins around 5:00 AM, as early starts offer the best chance of locating the chimpanzees before they move deeper into the forest. The experience may begin from either the Uwinka Visitor Centre or the Cyamudongo area, both known for their chimp populations.

Nyungwe Forest is home to about 500 chimpanzees, and as you venture into the dense jungle, you’ll be surrounded by the lively sounds of birds, insects, and other primates—setting the tone for a truly immersive forest experience.

After the trek, return to your lodge or a local restaurant for lunch, then begin the drive back to Kigali, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way. Arrival in Kigali will be in the evening, marking the end of your unforgettable Nyungwe Forest adventure.
