Legacy Heritage Tours organized an unforgettable eco-tour to one of Rwanda’s most iconic and biologically diverse destinations — Nyungwe National Park. This trip offered participants a chance to escape the busy city life and reconnect with nature in a deeply meaningful way.
Arrival and Welcome to Nyungwe
The journey began early in the morning with a scenic drive through Rwanda’s breathtaking hills. Upon arrival at Nyungwe National Park, the group was welcomed by experienced rangers who provided a brief orientation and shared insights about the forest’s ecosystem — home to 13 primate species, over 300 bird species, and hundreds of plant varieties
The Canopy Walk Experience
One of the most thrilling parts of the trip was the famous Canopy Walkway — a 60-meter-high suspension bridge that offers panoramic views above the forest canopy. Participants walked among the treetops, surrounded by birds, butterflies, and the cool mist of the forest. Many described it as a magical and emotional experience.
Guided Nature Hikes
For those who preferred to stay grounded, guided nature hikes were arranged along the park’s scenic trails. The participants encountered rare orchids, medicinal plants, and even glimpses of colobus monkeys swinging through the trees. The forest walk provided both adventure and peaceful reflection.
Lunch and Relaxation
After the morning activities, the group gathered near the Uwinka Visitors’ Center for a picnic lunch. Surrounded by fresh air and nature, participants shared stories and bonded over local snacks. The afternoon included light entertainment with local storytelling, adding cultural flavor to the day.
